   Despite arguing that renewable energy and its transmission from the San Luis Valley is one of its primary reasons for justifying a new high-voltage transmission line over La Veta Pass, Xcel Energy has announced it is completely dropping its renewable energy program.

  Xcel's new plan for 2012 completely erases the energy giant's original commitment from 1,000 Megawatts of solar power from large scale solar projects in the Valley to zero.
